The 6 Pillars: What and Who
are the Citizens of the Future?
Shaping Responsible Citizens
with Global Views
Global citizens are mindful of different cultures, worldviews, and open to learning and understanding different perspectives. In an increasingly globalised world the ability to engage with a global viewpoint will be key to problem solving in the future. Entrepreneurs looking to attack challenges will rely on the competence to connect with a diverse range of people and partners.
Developing Resilience and Adaptability for
Better Relationships
Emotional intelligence, or EQ, refers to the ability to see the world from someone else’s perspective and being aware of managing one’s own emotions and how they impact others. This becomes a vital skill in an increasingly digital world, where a developed EQ can improve communication, decision-making, and relationships (both personal and professional). Taking an empathetic approach to relationships can promote adaptability and resilience; key components to better problem solving.
Innovation through
Imagination
As Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” As the world continues to evolve there will always be new challenges to face, most likely with limited resources. In the future, Creative Citizens will be vital in leading the charge to craft new ideas that power innovative solutions.
Where Cooperation
Leads to Achievement
Collaboration is the process of working together with others to share ideas and perspectives; learning from each other to all achieve a common goal. Teamwork will be a crucial component for success in the future. Collaborative Citizens will be more adept to build trust and understanding in a highly interconnected and interdependent world.
Digital Literacy
Digital literacy refers to the ability to navigate the digital world through technology and communication. It requires skills such as reading, writing, and critical thinking to help make sense of the vast amount of information available. Digital Literate Citizens can access, understand, and work with the latest technologies; using them to make better decisions and create new and exciting solutions.
Creating Citizens that Reflect,
Evaluate, and Problem Solve
Critical thinking is the ability to understand and make informed decisions based on evidence. Critical Thinking Citizens understand and question the information they are presented with and show the initiative to respond. This is a key skill, necessary for lifelong learning; providing the foundation for informed, engaged, and responsible members of society.
